What do I need to run Meta Ads?

This guide provides a simple, step-by-step process for setting up Meta Ads (Facebook & Instagram Ads). It is designed to help you get started, whether you're creating new accounts or simply linking existing ones.

Quick Checklist: Review What You Already Have


Use this checklist to quickly determine what you already have in place. This will help you know which steps to follow next.


To run Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram), you'll need the following:

  1. Have a Facebook Business Manager Account
  2. Have a Facebook Ad Account
  3. Have a Facebook Page
  4. Create an Instagram Business Account (Not a personal account)
  5. Connect Your Facebook Page to Your Business Instagram Account
  6. Share Assets with DentalMarketing.com

 

STEP 1: HOW TO CREATE A BUSINESS MANAGER

Do you already have a Business Manager?
If yes, please continue to Step 2
If not, follow these steps to create one:

  1. Go to the Business Manager website: business.facebook.com.
  2. Create a Business Manager Account: If you don’t already have one, click "Create Account".
  3. Log In with Your Facebook Account: You’ll need to log in with your personal Facebook account.
  4. Create a Business Portfolio: Enter your business name, email, and relevant details.
  5. Verify Your Email: You’ll receive a confirmation email. Click the link to verify your email address.

 

STEP 2: HOW TO CREATE AN AD ACCOUNT

Do you already have an Ad Account created?

If yes, please proceed to Step 3
If not, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Business Settings: Once logged in, go to "Business Settings".
  2. Locate Ad Accounts: In "Business Settings", find and select "Ad Accounts" under the "Accounts" section.
  3. Create a New Ad Account: Click the "Add" button and select "Create a New Ad Account".
  4. Provide Account Details: Enter the necessary details such as:
    • Ad Account Name
    • Time Zone
    • Currency
  5. Link the Ad Account: Choose "My Business" and click Continue.

STEP 3: HOW TO CREATE A FACEBOOK PAGE

Do you already have a Facebook Page for your business?

If yes, please continue to Step 4
If not, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Business Settings: Once logged in, go to "Business Settings".
  2. Locate Pages: Under "Accounts", find and select "Pages".
  3. Create a New Facebook Page: Click the "Add" button and choose "Create a New Facebook Page".
  4. Provide Page Details: Enter the page name, category, and bio.
  5. Accept Page Access Terms: Check the box and click "Create Page".

Note: If the Facebook Page already exists but isn’t linked to the Business Manager, we’ll need to request access from the Page owner to connect it.

  • Pages > Add > Add an Existing Facebook Page > Paste page URL > Assign Permissions > Send Request

 

STEP 4: HOW TO CREATE AN INSTAGRAM BUSINESS ACCOUNT

Do you already have an Instagram business account?


If yes, please proceed to Step 5.
If not, follow these steps:

  1. Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.
  2. Tap Edit profile.
  3. Tap Switch to Professional Account.
  4. Select Business and tap Next.
  5. Complete your profile and tap Done.

Does your practice already have an Individual Instagram account?

 To switch to a Business Account:

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. Tap Menu in the top right.
  3. Tap Creator Tools & Controls.
  4. Tap Switch Account Type, then Switch to Business Account.

STEP 5: HOW TO CONNECT YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT TO YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE


Is your Instagram account already connected to your Facebook Page?

If yes, proceed to Step 6.
If not, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Facebook and go to your Facebook Page.
  2. Click Settings (from the left-hand menu).
  3. In the left menu, click Instagram (or Linked Accounts, depending on the layout).
  4. Click Connect Account.
  5. A pop-up will appear. Log in to your Instagram business account (make sure it’s a business, not a personal account).
  6. Follow the prompts to authorize the connection.

Important: Make sure you're logged into the Instagram business account and that you're an admin of the Facebook Page you're connecting.

 

STEP 6: HOW TO SHARE ACCESS WITH DENTALMARKETING.COM

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Business Settings: Once logged in, go to "Business Settings".
  2. Locate Partners: Under "Users", find and select "Partners".
  3. Add a Partner: Click the "Add" button and choose "Give a Partner Access to Your Assets".
  4. Enter Partner Business ID: Enter DentalMarketing.com’s Business ID: 625741554290823 and click Next.
  5. Choose Business Assets:
    • Select "Ad Accounts" and choose the ad account you created. Make sure to select Full Access.
    • Select "Pages", choose your Facebook Page, and select Full Access.
      Select "Instagram Accounts", choose your Instagram account, and select Full Access.

  6. Click "Assign Assets" to complete the process.

STEP 7: HOW TO CREATE AND SHARE A PIXEL

Do you already have a Pixel created?

 If yes, you can skip the creation steps and move directly to sharing the Pixel.
If not, follow these steps:

  1. Go to ‘Business Settings’: Once logged in, navigate to Business Settings.
  2. Click ‘Data Sources’ from the left-hand menu, then select ‘Pixels’.
  3. Click the blue ‘Add’ button.
  4. Enter a name for your Pixel (e.g., Practice Name’s Pixel) and enter your business website (be sure to use the root domain; For example, in the address www.example.com, the root domain is example.com, versus a subdomain if applicable).
  5. Click ‘Continue’.
  6. Click ‘Continue Managing Business’.

 

If you already have a Pixel created, skip the steps above and move directly to sharing the Pixel.

How to Share the Pixel with DentalMarketing.com

  1. Go to ‘Partners’: In Business Settings, select ‘Partners’.
  2. Select DentalMarketing.com.
  3. Click on ‘Assign Assets’.
  4. Under Pixels, select the Pixel you just created (or your existing Pixel).
  5. Toggle On the ‘Full Control’ option.
  6. Click ‘Assign Assets’ to complete the process.
